Overview

This design-build project (FIN 432259-2) consists of the reconstruction of I-95 from south of Emerson Street (State Road 126) to Atlantic Boulevard (State Road 10). The anticipated project limits along I-95 extend from approximately 2,700 feet south of Emerson Street to 2,400 feet south of Atlantic Boulevard. Project improvements include:

  • Adding lanes to I-95 southbound and I-95 northbound for a total of 5 travel lanes in each direction
  • Raising the profile of I-95 to improve sight distance
  • Replacing the bridges over Emerson Street and San Diego Road
  • Resurfacing Emerson Street from U.S. 1 to Spring Park Road (FIN 445343-1)
  • Reconfiguring the interchange at Emerson Street as a median U-turn interchange
  • Constructing a cul-de-sac at the north end of Indigo Drive
  • Constructing cul-de-sacs at several other locations within the project limits
  • Installing drainage improvements along I-95
  • Constructing additional retention ponds
  • Replacing all lighting along I-95
  • Replacing all ITS components
  • Replacing overhead signage
  • Updating traffic signals
  • Adding and replacing sound walls
  • Relocating utilities

Superior Construction Company was selected to complete both projects. Construction activities will take place during daytime and nighttime hours. Pile driving operations may occur during daylight hours only, seven days a week. The following lane closure restrictions will be in place throughout construction:

  • I-95 and Ramps
    • No single lane closures allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
    • No double lane closures, triple lane closures or detours allowed from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
    • With prior approval, single lane closures for pile driving activities may be allowed during daylight hours on Saturday.
  • Emerson Street
