SR A1A Trail
Overview

This portion of SR A1A has a large number of pedestrians and bicyclists. Approximately 14,000 vehicles use this stretch of the road daily. Currently, there is a 5-foot sidewalk on the east-west portion of the corridor from Magnolia Avenue to Coastal Highway. North on SR A1A/Costal Highway intersection to Twenty-Fourth Street, there are no pedestrian or separated bicycle facilities. Currently, bicyclists use the roadway shoulder to navigate the entire project area.

This project is proposing a shared-use pedestrian/bicycle trail separated from the roadway that will provide safe access through this area. The trail will provide better access to the Vilano Town-Center, numerous parks, beach access points, and the City of St. Augustine. The trail will be on the north side of SR A1A from Magnolia Avenue to Coastal Highway and on the west side of SR A1A from the SR A1A/Coastal Highway intersection to Twenty-Fourth Street. Below are two examples of key areas along the corridor.
