Work began September 2020 in in Lake City on a median modification project on U.S. 90 between State Road 247 and Northwest Commons Loop (Faith Road).
Additionally, the $484,000 Florida Department of Transportation project will include signal and drainage work, along with other incidental construction.
The project will include the removal of the current stick-like traffic delineators on U.S. 90 near the Lake City Commons shopping center and replace them with a raised concrete median. Once completed, the concrete median will extend from State Road 247 to Northwest Commons Loop/Faith Road.
Due to the median extension, crews will also improve drainage in the area to allow for better flow during rain events.
FDOT has hired American Lighting and Signalization, LLC., to complete the work.
Construction is scheduled to begin on September 18 and is tentatively expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Though motorists will likely see some daytime work, lane closures are not allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. When lane closures are in effect, both eastbound and westbound inside lanes of U.S. 90 will be closed – eastbound from the entrance to the Lake City Mall to Northwest Commons Loop/Faith Road, and westbound from just west of Northwest Commons Loop/Faith Road to State Road 247.
