Beach Boulevard (State Road 212) Pedestrian Channelization Barrier
Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will construct approximately 900 feet of a cement barrier wall in the existing median at the western foot of the Commodore Point Expressway at Beach Boulevard (State Road 212) starting in September 2020.

The three-foot high cement barrier wall will block pedestrians from crossing eight lanes of eastbound and westbound traffic to reach the south or north sides of Beach Boulevard schools and businesses. Pedestrians can cross safely 150-feet east at the signalized intersection at Parental Home Road and Beach Boulevard. The project also includes installing new directional signage for Beach Boulevard and the Hart Bridge.

The $652,000 contract was awarded to CDM Contracting, Inc. It is expected to be completed in the fall, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
