Four overpasses on I-295 East Beltway and Butler Boulevard (State Road 202) will undergo routine bridge maintenance over the next 14 to 16 months. Mobilization of the work area began March 25, 2020, on the I-295 East Beltway overpass at St. Johns Bluff Road. Single lane closures on St. Johns Bluff Road are scheduled to begin the week of April 6.
Maintenance on the Butler Boulevard overpass at Gate Parkway is scheduled to begin in late April. The remaining I-295 overpasses at Lee Road and the Southside Connector (State Road 113) will begin following the completion of the Butler Boulevard overpass work.
Contractors will work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend and night work may be scheduled as the project proceeds. Single lane closures are scheduled to occur throughout the duration of the project. No ramp closures are expected, except for isolated detours at night for ramp terminals adjacent to Gate Parkway.
The $3.4 million project was awarded to Elite Industrial Painting Inc. It is expected to be completed in summer 2021, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
