The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin installing guardrail on Interstate 75 in the Paynes Prairie area next week, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
The approximately $1.1 million project is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, January 27, and include guardrail installation off the northbound and southbound outside shoulders of I-75 through the prairie area. FDOT has hired Anderson Columbia Co., Inc., of Lake City, to handle the project.
Motorists should expect lane closures throughout the project duration, but work will be limited to nighttime hours – no lane closures are allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and no double lane closures are allowed from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Additionally, work will not be allowed on weekends – no lane closures are allowed from 6 a.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Sunday – to better accommodate increased weekend traffic.
