Safety improvements on State Road 121 (SW 34th Street) from State Road 26A (SW 2nd Avenue) to State Road 26 (W. University Avenue)

Overview

FDOT proposes the following modifications:

  • Add a through lane to northbound State Road 121 by repurposing a left turn lane and upgrading/replacing signals at the intersections of State Road 121 and State Road 26A as well as the intersection of State Road 121 and State Road 26.
  • Modify a median opening on State Road 26 west of State Road 121.
  • Add a green bike lane on northbound State Road 121 between State Road 26A and State Road 26.
  • Add a left turn lane on State Road 26A west of State Road 121.
  • Complete ADA, lighting and drainage improvements.

Public Hearing (Monday, January 6, 2020)

A public hearing regarding proposed median modifications and green bike lane addition on Southwest 34th Street (State Road 121) from Southwest 2nd Avenue (State Road 26A) to West University Avenue (State Road 26) will be held Monday, January 6 at the Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 Northwest 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL 32607. Attendees will have the opportunity to view displays and discuss the proposed changes with project staff and consultants during an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. A formal public comment period will begin at 6 p.m.

Project documents will be available for review at www.nflroads.com by December 27, 2019. Attendees who complete a speaker’s card will be given the opportunity to make an oral statement that will become part of the public hearing record. Persons wishing to submit written statements or other exhibits in place of or in addition to oral statements may do so at the hearing or by sending them to Peter Osborne, Project Manager, at Peter.Osborne@dot.state.fl.us or 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204-2730. All exhibits or statements postmarked on or before January 16, 2020 will become part of the public hearing record.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status.
