U.S. 1 (State Road 5) from State Road 207 to the St Augustine City Gates Resurfacing Improvement Project
Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to resurface U.S. 1 (State Road 5) from State Road 207 to the St. Augustine City Gates in late 2020. As part of these improvements, FDOT is proposing to close the median openings on U.S. 1 at Rohde Avenue, Grove Avenue, Everett Street and Daniels Street to improve safety and meet current design standards. The Department is also proposing to remove on-street parking along U.S. 1 within the project limits to install buffered bicycle lanes.

Public Hearing (Monday, November 18, 2019)

A public hearing is scheduled Monday, November 18 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the St. Johns Health Building, Muscovy Conference Room 200 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine, FL 32084 to discuss the proposed median closures and installation of bicycle lanes. A public comment period will begin at 6 p.m.

Project documents will be available for review at the public hearing and at www.nflroads.com on November 8, 2019. Persons wishing to submit written statements or other exhibits in place of or in addition to oral statements may do so at the hearing or by sending them to Eric Shimer, 2198 Edison Avenue Jacksonville, Florida 32204. All exhibits or statements postmarked on or before November 28, 2019 will become part of the public hearing record.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or persons who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Bianca Speights at least seven (7) days prior to the public hearing at (904) 831-3368 or Bianca.Speights@dot.state.fl.us.
