First Coast Expressway Landscaping Project

Overview

This landscaping project is proposed for approximately 26 miles of roadway Right of Way along the First Coast Expressway from south of the I-10 interchange to north of the Blanding Boulevard intersection. The project will include plantings of native vegetation along the corridor to provide visual interest to drivers using the corridor for travel and daily commutes. The project will also include irrigation for plant establishment. For additional aesthetics, low landscape walls with accent lighting will be used to create gateway nodes along the corridor. The project is now preparing to go to the bidding process with construction expected to start in late 2019.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a public meeting April 11, 2019 at Oakleaf Baptist Church to preview the landscaping improvements.
