Work began August 22, 2018 on the reconstruction of a multi-use path along approximately one half-mile of State Road A1A (Heckscher Drive) from the Ft. George Trailhead to Huguenot Park. The project includes construction of a 10-foot-wide paved path, retaining walls, a stand-alone 12-foot-wide path bridge structure over Haulover Creek, modifications to existing storm drain systems and relocation of existing utilities.
Project contractor Vecellio and Grogan, Inc. is expected to complete the project in spring 2019, weather and schedule permitting, at a cost of about $2.7 million.
