The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a 9.6-mile resurfacing project on U.S. 441 in May 2018 in southern Columbia County, weather permitting.
The $4.2 million project will take place between Ellisville and the Alachua County line. The project, scheduled to begin on May 29, is expected to be completed this winter.
FDOT has hired V.E. Whitehurst & Sons, Inc., of Williston, to complete the project.
Work will include milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, shoulder work, and other incidental construction.
Construction is scheduled to take place weekdays during daytime and evening hours, and motorists should expect some delays throughout the duration of the project. However, lane closures are not allowed from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.
This section of U.S. 441 was last paved in 2003.
