I-10 (SR 8) Widening from I-295 to I-95

Overview

I-10 from I-295 to I-95 will be widened to improve traffic flow, safety and increase capacity. When complete, I-10 will feature up to ten lanes between I-295 and I-95.

Traffic volume along I-10 is expected to increase significantly over the next two decades and widening the road will alleviate traffic issues in years ahead. Temporary lane closures and nighttime detours will take place throughout the duration of the project; however these will occur in off-peak times. Every effort will be made to minimize the impact to traffic flow in the construction zone. The project is expected to last about five years, weather and schedule permitting. The long duration is, in part, because of the many bridges that will need to be widened, a highly constrained work area and because the project duration also includes the design phase.
