Mayport Road (State Road A1A) resurfacing and Shared-Use Path and Bike Lane Construction
Overview

Shared-use path and bike lane construction on Mayport Road (State Road A1A) from Atlantic Boulevard (State Road 10) to Dutton Island Road with milling and resurfacing from Atlantic Boulevard to Seventh Street began Monday, June 15, 2026.

This project repurposes one lane in each direction of Mayport Road to construct a northbound shared-use path and southbound designated bike lane from Atlantic Boulevard to Dutton Island Road.

The project also includes milling, resurfacing, base work, drainage improvements, curb and gutters, traffic signals, lighting, highway signing, pavement markings, bridge and MSE wall spall repair, cleaning and coating and other incidental construction.

J.B. Coxwell Contracting, Inc., was awarded the $9.6 million project.

Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. No lane closures on Mayport Road will be allowed from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Work will typically occur at night, Sunday through Thursday, with some work activities occurring during the daytime, Monday through Friday.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a public meeting Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, to discuss proposed roadway improvements on Mayport Road (State Road A1A) from Atlantic Boulevard (State Road 10) to Dutton Island Road West. Interested parties can attend the meeting in person at the Atlantic Beach City Hall at 800 Seminole Road Atlantic Beach, FL 32233. FDOT staff and consultants will be available from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to answer questions and accept comments. A formal presentation and public comment period will begin at 6 p.m.
