University Boulevard (State Road 109) Resurfacing and Median Modifications
Overview

Preferred Materials, Inc. was awarded the contract to complete this project, which includes milling and resurfacing University Boulevard (State Road 109) from San Jose Boulevard (State Road 13) to I-95. This project also includes curb and gutters, sidewalks, signing and pavement markings, signalization, lighting and other incidental construction.

The project also includes median modifications to reduce crashes at high-conflict areas within the project limits:

  • Installation of a directional median opening with traffic separators at Chester Avenue to eliminate the left turn movement from Chester Avenue to westbound University Boulevard, as well as installation of a 4-foot traffic separator from Chester Avenue to Powers Avenue to direct left turn movements to the signalized intersection at Powers Avenue.
  • Installation of a 4-foot traffic separator from west of Richard Street to east of Cagle Road to direct left turn movements to the signal at Richard Street and installation of a left turn directional median at Cagle Road to eliminate the northbound left turn movement at this intersection.

Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. No lane closures will be allowed from San Jose Boulevard to St. Augustine Road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. No single or double lane closures will be allowed from St. Augustine Road to I-95 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday.
