Edgewood Avenue Roadway Improvements
Overview

Edgewood Avenue roadway improvements are proposed from Edgewood Avenue South from U.S. 17 (State Road 15) to Lenox Avenue and Lenox Avenue from State Road 111/Cassat Avenue to Edgewood Avenue South.

FDOT proposes the following modifications:

  • Repurposing four through travel lanes into two through travel lanes on Edgewood Avenue South to install bicycle and shared use lanes throughout the project limits
  • Installing three new mid-block crossings with flashing beacons between Mayflower Street and Corby Street, Antisdale Street and Post Street and Post Street and Jasmine Place
  • Relocating traffic signal heads due to lane repurposing
  • Cleaning and re-coating the U.S. 17/Roosevelt Boulevard bridge
  • Connecting existing sidewalk with newly constructed sidewalk
  • Upgrading ADA curb ramps
  • Upgrading existing pedestrian signals and installing new pedestrian signals
  • Completing minor utility improvements

Hybrid Public Hearing (Tuesday, October 13, 2020)

The public is invited to a hybrid public hearing to discuss proposed roadway improvements on Edgewood Avenue South from U.S. 17 (State Road 15) to Lenox Avenue and Lenox Avenue from State Road 111/Cassat Avenue to Edgewood Avenue South in Jacksonville, Financial Project Number 443517-1.

The hybrid hearing will be held October 13, 2020, with an informal open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a formal presentation beginning at 6 p.m. Citizens may participate online at nflroads.com/VPH or by phone at (562) 247-8422, access code 175-785-553. Citizens who are unable to participate virtually may attend the hearing in person at the FDOT Urban Office Training Center located at 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, citizens are strongly encouraged to use the virtual options. Both virtual and in-person participants will be given equal opportunity to ask questions and make oral statements that will become part of the public hearing record. Persons who wish to submit written statements or other exhibits may do so prior to or during the hearing in the comments section at nflroads.com/VPH. Citizens may also submit questions, statements and other exhibits by sending them to Clint McCraw P.E., Project Manager, via email at Clint.McCraw@dot.state.fl.us or traditional mail at 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. All exhibits or statements postmarked on or before October 23, 2020 will become part of the public hearing record. Project-related documents are currently available for review at nflroads.com/VPH.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability or family status. Persons who require special accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act or who require translation services (free of charge) should contact Bianca Speights at (904) 831-FDOT at least seven days prior to the hearing.

A notification letter is being sent to all property owners within 300 feet of either side of the proposed median modifications. Public hearings provide the public with an opportunity to express their views on the project, its potential for impact and other related matters.
