Overview
This project proposes improvements on Coastal Highway (State Road A1A) from the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway (State Road A1A) intersection to 24th Street. This project will increase safety for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, children and other users of the corridor.
FDOT proposes the following improvements:
- An 8-foot-wide trail for pedestrians and cyclists
- Minor restriping for three left-turn lanes in the northbound direction
Two right-turn southbound lanes will be removed. - Drainage improvements in various locations to improve roadway flooding

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a virtual public meeting Wednesday, April 9, 2025 to discuss proposed pedestrian safety and drainage improvements on Coastal Highway (State Road A1A) from the Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway (State Road A1A) Intersection to 24th Street. FDOT staff and consultants will be available from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to answer questions and accept comments. Interested parties can attend the meeting in person at GTM Research Reserve 505 Guana River Rd, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
