This FDOT resurfacing project will improve safety, increase mobility and rehabilitate State Road 24 between State Road 222 and U.S. 301 and includes:
- Milling and resurfacing of almost 9 miles of State Road 24
- Shoulder treatment
- Curb and gutters construction
- Drainage improvements
- Highway signing
- Guardrail construction
- Traffic signals
- Incidental construction
SR 24 (Waldo Road) will be maintained as a two-lane one lane roadway from west of NE 141st Drive to U.S. 301 with the following proposed improvements:
- Special emphasis crosswalks at Cole Street
- Rectangular rapid flashing beacon at Earle Street
- Intersection improvement at the Waldo Road/U.S. 301 intersection
- New bicycle lane in front of the First Baptist Church
Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. During resurfacing operations, drivers can expect daytime lane closures from 8
a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please note the speed limit on State Road 24 will
be reduced to 55 mph during work zone activity.
FDOT selected Whitehurst, V. E. & Sons to complete this project by summer 2025, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
