U.S. 221 From Cedar Street in Perry to Madison County line resurfacing
Overview

In March 2023, The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began construction on a 11.5-mile resurfacing project along SR 55 (U.S. 221) from Cedar Street in Perry to the Madison County Line.

Pavement resurfacing is crucial to maintaining a roadway’s safety and functionality and is expected to extend the longevity of the road by up to 20 years. The project also includes shoulder and base improvements, drainage improvements and safety enhancements such as sinusoidal rumble strips, new striping and signage and new caution lights at the County Road 359A intersection.

Drivers should expect daytime lane closures Monday through Friday except for 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. FDOT has hired Anderson Columbia Co., Inc., of Lake City, to complete the $10.7 million project.
