State Road 331 (Williston Road) Proposed Median Modifications
Overview

There are proposed modifications to a median on State Road 331 (Williston Road) in Gainesville, Florida. This median opening is approximately 1,000 feet west of SE 4th Street and is being reviewed as part of the permitting process for the Sugar Hill Plaza project.

The Sugar Hill Plaza project is a 6,000 square foot commercial building with associated parking, utility, and drainage improvements. The proposed access connection is to an existing, full access median opening that does not meet current spacing requirements. To meet FDOT spacing requirements, the median opening will be modified to a directional median opening (allowing westbound left turns but restricting eastbound left turns and left turns from exiting the new driveway on the south side of SR 331). This will increase the safety factor by restricting vehicles leaving the driveway to a right turn only movement. Drivers who wish to head west can make a U-turn at the next median opening.
