SR A1A Trail from Marineland to the Matanzas Inlet Bridge
Overview
The Trail project on SR A1A from Marineland to the Matanzas Inlet Bridge is in the design stage at 60% (Phase II) plans. The 90% plans (phase III) are scheduled to be completed in November 2025. The trail will be constructed on the west side of SR A1A. The roadway will be shifted at the revetment along the Intracoastal waterway to allow room for the trail. The construction of the trail will coincide with two resurfacing projects to resurface SR A1A in St. Johns County from the Flagler County Line to SR 312, currently scheduled for July 2026. Open house (Thursday, May 18, 2023)

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to attend an open house on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the UF Whitney Lab for Marine Studies Building located at 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd, Marineland, FL 32080, to learn more about the proposed design for a separated shared use path to be constructed on the west side of SR A1A. . This project includes the construction of an approx. 10-12 ft wide separated shared use path on the west side of SR A1A from Marineland to the Matanzas Inlet bridge, as a part of FDOT’s SUN Trail program. It is currently in the design phase and funded for construction in Fiscal Year 2028.

FDOT staff and the project team will be available to answer questions and receive comments during the open house period. A brief 5–10-minute presentation will be offered at 5:30 pm.

Participants wishing to submit comments regarding the trail may do so at the meeting. Comments can also be sent directly to Project Manager Barney Bennette, P.E. by email at barney.bennette@dot.state.fl.us or by mail at 1109 S. Marion Avenue, MS 2007, Lake City, FL 32025-5874. Public comments will be accepted until June 2, 2023.
