Pedestrian safety and intersection improvements on 103rd Street (State Road 134) at Ricker Road, Hillman Drive/McManus Drive, and La Ventura Drive East are began in August. Improvements at the three intersections include new traffic signal mast arms, traffic signal upgrades, new streetlights, crosswalk re-striping and the installation of LED countdown pedestrian signals. The Ricker Road intersection improvements also include widening of the road for the installation of dedicated left turn lanes at the north and south sides of the intersection. To facilitate construction of the extra lane on the south side, Ricker Road will be temporarily closed at the intersection for approximately one month starting in September. Northbound Ricker Road traffic will detour via Falcon Street and Hillman Drive.
In addition to the temporary detour, drivers should expect evening lane closures on 103rd Street in the vicinity of the intersections throughout the duration of the project. No closures will be scheduled during peak driving times or on holidays or special events. SICE, Inc. of Jacksonville is scheduled to complete the $2.8 million project, weather permitting, in fall 2023.
