The NW 34th Boulevard (State Road 121) Resurfacing project is a resurfacing/safety improvements projects that will add Two-Way Inside Left (TWIL) turn lanes at prescribed areas. TWILs are provided to remove left-turning vehicles from the through lanes and store those vehicles in the median area until an acceptable gap in opposing traffic is available.
TWIL turn lanes are being installed in the following locations:
* Between NW 16th Avenue and NW 39th Avenue
* Between NW 39th Avenue to NW 53rd Avenue
* Between NW 53rd Avenue to U.S. 441
Other items of improvement include: shoulder treatment (drop-off correction), drainage improvements to accommodate roadway widening areas, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) upgrades and signals upgrades such as the installation of flashing beacons at schools and traffic awareness indicators at NW 16th Avenue.
FDOT selected R.E. Arnold Construction to complete this project in summer 2022, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
