Beach Boulevard (SR 212) from Southside Boulevard to Eve Drive Improvements
Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a construction open house for the Beach Boulevard (SR 212) from Southside Boulevard to Eve Drive improvements November 18 from 4-6 p.m. The in-person meeting will be held at the FDOT Urban Office Training Center located at 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Citizens may drop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to learn more about the scope of the project and it's impacts to the surrounding area. No formal presentation will be given as part of the meeting.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Construction of a signal-controlled Median U-Turn Intersection (MUT) on eastbound Beach Boulevard to northbound Southside Boulevard
  • Construction of a signal-controlled Median U-Turn Intersection (MUT) on westbound Beach Boulevard to southbound Southside Boulevard
  • Construction of a stop-controlled median directional crossover on Beach Boulevard to Newell Boulevard
  • Construction of a signal-controlled median directional crossover on Beach Boulevard to W. Eve Drive
  • Widening Beach Boulevard to accommodate the MUTs and directional crossovers
  • Construction of traffic signals, pedestrian and bicycle facilities and driveway modifications

A public open house regarding proposed changes to the roadway, signalization, striping and medians on Beach Boulevard between Southside Boulevard (State Road 115) and Eve Drive will be held Tuesday, September 10 at the Regency Square Branch Library, 9900 Regency Square Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32225. Attendees will have the opportunity to view displays and discuss the proposed changes with project staff and consultants during an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. No formal presentation will be made.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Construction of a signal-controlled Median U-Turn Intersection (MUT) on eastbound Beach Boulevard to northbound Southside Boulevard

The Florida Department of Transportation is considering changes to Beach Boulevard that include construction of a Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) on Beach Blvd. to northbound Southside Blvd. and northbound Eve Drive; construction of a Displaced Left Turn (DLT) on Beach Blvd. to southbound Southside Blvd.; construction of a Bypass Right Turn Lane on Southside Blvd. to eastbound Beach Blvd.; median improvements and pedestrian facilities at the intersection of Patton Road and Southside Service Road; widening Beach Blvd. and Southside Blvd. to accommodate RCUT and DLT; construction of traffic signals, pedestrian and bicycle facilities and driveway modifications; installation of overhead and post-mounted signs and pavement markings; and milling and resurfacing within the project limits.

Project documents will be available for review at the public hearing and at www.nflroads.com by March 25, 2019.
