A resurfacing and roadway improvement project on I-295 from south of the Dames Point Bridge to north of the Heckscher Drive (State Road 105) intersection began Monday, September 26. The project includes milling and resurfacing, guardrail improvements, restriping and new highway signage. In addition, the asphalt sections of the Dames Point Bridge will be resurfaced and the bridge joints replaced.
Drivers should expect nighttime and overnight lane closures during construction. Lane closures will not be scheduled during peak travel times or on holidays or special events.
Preferred Materials, Inc. is the contractor for the $12 million project. It is scheduled for completion in fall 2023, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
