As part of the U.S. 441 resurfacing project, FDOT will remove and replace approximately 12 miles of asphalt from the Marion County line to Williston Road in Gainesville, extending the life of the roadway and reducing maintenance costs. Other improvements include: raising the roadway through Payne’s Prairie to mitigate roadway flooding and the addition of bicycle lanes throughout the project. The project will also see safety improvements including the addition of signals and street lighting at the County Road 234 intersection and the installation of guardrail through Payne’s Prairie.
Motorists should expect both daytime and nighttime construction activities; however, lane closure restrictions will be in place during peak travel times to help with traffic congestion. Those include:
**No lane closures are allowed between Southwest 45th Lane to State Road 331 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
**No lane closures are allowed on the U.S. 441 slip ramp from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
**No lane closures are allowed on the project from 8 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday.
