Edgewood Avenue South from Roosevelt Boulevard to Cassat Avenue Roadway Improvements
Overview

Superior Construction has been selected to complete this roadway improvements project, which includes:

  • Milling and resurfacing of Edgewood Avenue from U.S. 17 to Lenox Avenue and Lenox Avenue from Edgewood Avenue to Cassat Avenue.
  • Construction of a roundabout-style traffic configuration at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Plymouth Street for improved traffic flow.
  • Installation of bike lanes, shared use lane markings, mid-block crossings and traffic signal, sidewalk and signage upgrades.
  • Lighting upgrades including new luminaires for streetlights and under-deck lighting at the U.S. 17 overpass.

Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. No lane closures will be permitted on Edgewood Avenue from Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. 17) to Mayflower Street between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. From Mayflower Street to Cassat Avenue, one lane in either direction will be open at all times.

Open House (Thursday, May 18, 2023)

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a construction open house inviting the community to learn more about the upcoming resurfacing project taking place on Edgewood Avenue South from Roosevelt Boulevard to Cassat Avenue.

The hybrid construction open house will be held at the FDOT Jacksonville Urban Office Training Center, located at 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Project staff will be available to answer questions in-person, online at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4061111498791478876 or by phone at (562) 247-8422, access code 898-990-8422. If needed the online access code is 323-368-507.

Citizens may drop by anytime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to learn more about the scope of the project, ask questions and view conceptual renderings of the project.

Hybrid Public Meeting (Tuesday, October 13, 2020)

The public is invited to a hybrid public hearing to discuss proposed roadway improvements on Edgewood Avenue South from U.S. 17 (State Road 15) to Lenox Avenue and Lenox Avenue from State Road 111/Cassat Avenue to Edgewood Avenue South in Jacksonville, Financial Project Number 443517-1.

The hybrid hearing will be held October 13, 2020, with an informal open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a formal presentation beginning at 6 p.m. Citizens may participate online at nflroads.com/VPH or by phone at (562) 247-8422, access code 175-785-553. Citizens who are unable to participate virtually may attend the hearing in person at the FDOT Urban Office Training Center located at 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, citizens are strongly encouraged to use the virtual options. Both virtual and in-person participants will be given equal opportunity to ask questions and make oral statements that will become part of the public hearing record. Persons who wish to submit written statements or other exhibits may do so prior to or during the hearing in the comments section at nflroads.com/VPH.
