Heckscher Drive (State Road A1A/State Road 105) at Simpson Creek Bridge
Overview

Construction of a new bridge on Heckscher Drive (SR-A1A/SR-105) over Simpson Creek started in November 2021, as part of the Timucuan Trail multi-use path project. The new bridge will feature two 12-foot travel lanes, 10-foot shoulders on both sides of the roadway and the 10-foot paved multi-use Timucuan Trail on the east side. Superior Construction is the contractor for the $3 million project. It is scheduled to be complete in fall 2023.

During the approximate 12 to 14 months of bridge reconstruction traffic will be reduced to one-way over the bridge and north and south of the construction zone. Temporary, video-monitored traffic signals will be installed to direct southbound and northbound cars and bicyclists safely through the work zone.
