State Road A1A (Heckscher Drive) at Fort George Inlet Park Landscaping Project
Overview

This project consists of berm construction with heavy planting designed to guide flying birds over the new landscaping and away from traffic. Plant species that will be installed as part of the project include sand live oak, saw palmetto, southern red cedar, slash pine, cabbage palm, yaupon holly and dune sunflower. The project also includes installation of temporary irrigation systems to support the new plantings.

Lafleur Nurseries and Garden Center, LLC was selected to complete the project, which includes approximately four months of construction plus a two-year establishment period.

Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. Posted speed limits will remain in place throughout the duration of construction. Project work is expected to take place during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional lane closures.
