Beach Blvd. Landscaping from San Pablo Rd. to S. 12th Street
Overview
A landscaping project along 2 miles of Beach Boulevard (State Road 212) from San Pablo Road to 12th Street South in Jacksonville Beach began in October and is scheduled for completion in March. FDOT’s $1.3 million median landscaping project includes plantings of 173 sabal palms, 44 medjool palms, 29 wild date palms, 3 cathedral oaks and 1038 evergreen paspalum (crown grass). In addition, 94 existing sabal palms have been relocated around a retention pond beneath the Intracoastal Waterway bridge. The project includes a two-year establishment period in which the contractor, Arazoza Bros. Corp., will maintain, monitor and replace trees and shrubs as needed. Temporary irrigation will be installed within the medians throughout the contract time to assist in establishing the roots into the soil.
