San Sebastian River Bridge replacement
Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to replace the King Street Bridge over the San Sebastian River, beginning summer 2025. This project involves demolishing the current King Street bridge over the San Sebastian River and replacing it with a new one. The new bridge over the San Sebastian River will include two 11-foot-wide travel lanes, one 11-foot-wide turn lane, a 10-foot-6-inch-wide sidewalk on the north side, and a 6-foot-6-inch-wide sidewalk on the south side. Additionally, the project will include upgraded aesthetic lighting, bridge railings and shared-use lane pavement markings.

J.B. Coxwell was selected to complete the $13.4 million project.

During construction, a detour will be required for the duration of the build to facilitate demolition and construction activities. The detour route is set to take Ponce De Leon Boulevard (US 1) to cross the San Sebastian River and use Malaga Street.
