The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proposing improvements to SR 5A through downtown St Augustine. The project will include the milling and resurfacing of the existing travel lanes as well as miscellaneous maintenance improvements such as isolated sidewalk repair and upgrading existing facilities to meet current ADA standards. In addition, in order to meet current safety standards for sight distance isolated sections of on-street parking will be impacted and some existing parking spaces will be removed. FDOT has made a decision to leave the on street parking between Hope Street and SR 16 with the exception of the spaces needed to achieve safety for sight distances. The Department is working with the City of ST. Augustine on developing an alternate bike route through this area with a separate project. Thank you for your input into this project.
An open house for this project has been scheduled for Monday, April 30 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the St. Augustine Main Library located at 1960 N. Ponce de Leon Boulevard. No presentation has been scheduled during the open house. FDOT personnel and the contractor will be available to provide information and answer any questions the public may have.
Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or family status as FDOT complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
